Mechatronics Certifications

Individual Training

The SoVA CME is an innovative workforce preparation initiative designed to provide advanced and specialty training in Mechatronics. The training programs are designed to be short – one year or less. Individuals completing Mechatronics training through the SoVA CME, can earn assessment-based, industry-recognized credentials through SIEMENS.

Trainees enrolled in SoVA CME’s Mechatronics program have the opportunity to earn up to three levels of Siemens certifications: Level 1: Siemens Certified Mechatronic System Assistant, Level 2: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate, & Level 3: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional.

Not only does the SoVA CME offer Siemens certifications in Mechatronics, trainees also have the opportunity to earn credentials through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

The Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program provided at SoVA CME is a comprehensive industry skills certification recognized by industries across the globe.  Siemens is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of mechatronic and automated systems.

Level 1: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant

The Level 1 trainee will characteristically be knowledgeable of a machine operating system.  In order for students to become a Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant, trainees must complete the following courses and pass the Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) Level 1 Certification Test.  Each course entails 60 hours of instruction:

  • Course 1: Electrical Components
  • Course 2: Mechanical Components & Electrical Devices
  • Course 3: (Electro) and Pneumatic & Hydraulic Control Circuits
  • Course 4: Digital Fundamentals & PLCs

Only by successfully passing the SMSCP Level 1 Certification Test will the trainee be awarded the certification of Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant.

Level 2: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate

The Level 2 trainee will characteristically be knowledgeable of a machine operating system as a whole, but can also dive in and work with particular system components, as well as understand how all the components work together.  In order for trainees to become a Siemens Certified Systems Associate, trainees must complete the following courses and pass the SMSCP Level 2 Certification Test.  Each course entails 60 hours of instruction:

  • Course 1: Process control technologies
  • Course 2: Introduction to Totally Integrated Automation
  • Course 3: Automation systems
  • Course 4: Motor control
  • Course 5: Mechanics & machine elements
  • Course 6: Manufacturing processes

Only by successfully passing the SMSCP Level 2 Certification Test will the trainee be awarded the certification of Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate.

Level 3: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional

The Level 3 trainee will characteristically be equivalent to a four-year college level engineering student.  At this level, trainees will design and build an entire mechatronic system and its applications, placing emphasis on project management. Our team of trained subject-matter experts will work with the trainee to obtain the internationally recognized Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional credential. In order for trainees to become a Siemens Certified Systems Professional, trainees must complete a 160-hour course and pass the SMSCP Level 3 Certification Test. The content areas are:

  • Project & Process Management
  • Mechatronic System Project

Only by successfully passing the SMSCP Level 3 Certification Test will the trainee be awarded the certification of Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional.
