The longer days and warming temperatures mean more time to complete projects at home or on the farm. Expand your DIY expertise with the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) “At Home Welding” class. This six-week course provides instruction on safety and basic welding processes including stick, MIG, and TIG welding, and cutting with plasma and oxy-fuel.
“This non-credential, hands-on training class is perfect for individuals in the community who want to learn a little bit more about welding for their personal use,” said Scarlett Brandon, program/marketing coordinator for Welding@SVHEC.
Developed with the recreational or do-it-yourselfer in mind, no previous welding experience is needed to enroll in the “At Home Welding” course. Classes will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, and will be taught by certified Welding@SVHEC instructors. Each participant will have an opportunity to complete a project in class or to bring in a personal project from home.
“At Home Welding” begins Tuesday, April 2nd, and costs $500.00 per person. Individuals who first complete the “Explore Welding” workshop on March 15th will receive a 10% discount on the registration fee.
