Mechatronics is a short term, accredited training program providing students with instruction in mechanical, electrical, computer, and software & control engineering to design and manufacture products. Three levels of training are available
Level 1: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant
Level 2: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate
Level 3: Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional
Individuals completing Level 1 training attend class two days a week, for four hours per day over 6 months. Level 2 training takes 10 months to complete, while Level 3, the shortest training level, will vary depending on participant’s prior knowledge and experience.
Training participants who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to earn the internationally recognized Siemens certification. This portable, 3rd party validated industry credential is recognized by employers across the globe.
Mechatronics training takes place in the labs and classrooms located on the campus of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (South Boston, VA). Trainees spend about 80% of instructional time in the lab.
